Transparency of personal income is a critical ethics policy. In Louisiana, Governor Bobby Jindal spearheaded this legislation through the legislature and mass resignations followed at all levels of government. Illinois has an acute need for the same policy.
The people of Illinois need to know if our ‘public servants’ are connected and beholden to special interests, powerful companies or other government entities. We need to know if our elected officials are profiting from the power of their positions.
Andrzejewski believes that public service is to serve the citizens of Illinois; public service is not enriching your family, friends or cronies from public monies. After the conviction of Governor George Ryan and arrest of Rod Blagojevich, citizens need to hold their elected officials to the highest ethical standards. Posting all sources of income will greatly improve their ability to do so.
We need to rekindle the true spirit of public service in Illinois.
