Andrzejewski responds to Brady's tax return "gimmick" comment

Illinois – Republican candidate for governor Adam Andrzejewski is confident that plans for reform are sound policy.  That confidence was reinforced after learning of one of Bill Brady's sound bites masquerading as reform policy.

In an interview with the Springfield Journal-Register, GOP hopeful Bill Brady’s (R-Bloomington) primary idea to reform Illinois’ corruption-laden government is to limit the length of time that legislators spend in office.

Bill Brady was once against term limits, as he hasn't ‘term-limited’ his own 16 year career in the General Assembly.  But, he then called Andrzejewski’s policy of posting of personal sources of income-income tax returns online “a gimmick.”

"Some people parrot 'reform' rhetoric to get elected," Andrzejewski said, "I want to be elected so that I can enact real reforms. The people of Illinois are intelligent enough to understand that the posting of tax returns is a serious step to reform, not a gimmick.  Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal’s ‘Gold Standard’ ethics policy included the posting of tax returns, and after the policy was enacted hundreds of elected officials resigned their posts.”

“I posted my tax return more than two months ago, and I have challenged my opponents to do the same – to prove that they have not benefitted financially from their government positions.  None of them have followed suit.  When I bring this up on the campaign trail, their embarrassment is not lost on the people in the audience.  The people of Illinois get it.”

Andrzejewski’s plan for reform includes a crack down on insider dealing in government; eliminates waste and abuse by utilizing forensic auditing to balance the books; and empowers the citizens to review the books through statewide financial transparency- ‘Every Dime. Online. In Real Time.’

As governor, Adam Andrzejewski will bring a transparency mandate by executive order.  The first order will be to open-up the books in Springfield. Andrzejewski’s second executive order would be a top-to-bottom audit of state spending of every agency under the Executive branch.  The estimated savings of such measures would be $3-$5 billion.
